DESCRIPTION:The Rural and Regional Migration Forum will explore how migration can support local employers to fill labour gaps and grow their businesses whilst contributing to the long-term sustainability of rural and regional communities. \nPlease join us for a Welcome Reception at the Horsham Town Hall on Tuesday the 12th of March at 5.30pm. SUMMARY:Intercultural Variety Concert 2019
DESCRIPTION:The Intercultural Variety Concert will be held on Saturday\, 16th March at the Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts as a highlight of Ballarat’s Harmony Fest. \nMany of Ballarat’s finest performers have donated their time for this worthy cause. The spectacular Chinese Lion Dancers\, the colourful Thai and Filipino Dancers; jazz\, soul and operetta singers\, including Prudence Hare and Christine Heald\, Susan Jackson\, Enduring Classics and Daylesford Soul Choir; cabaret star Maureen Andrew pays tribute to Liza Minnelli; the Ballarat Grammar Pipe Band with highland dancing; a jazz piano duet; a classical ballerina\, and the Little Brass Band. \nThis event is a Community Fundraiser for the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council to purchase a grand piano for the new Ballarat Welcome Centre. This will enable a much needed small venue in Ballarat for intercultural and chamber music events in the future. You can support this fundraising campaign by purchasing a piano key for $250 and a pianometer will measure donations made. Or team up with a group of people to purchase a single piano key. DESCRIPTION:The only locally organised street party led by young people to celebrate our diverse and rich cultures here in Ballarat is BACK! \nRock the Block Culture Fest 2019 is gonna be bigger and better than ever with killer live music provided by a melting pot of local legends and Melbourne royalty TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON. \nThe event is open and FREE to everyone of ALL AGES\, backgrounds and cultures! To acknowledge the land we will be meeting on\, we will be kicking the day off with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony performed by local Wadawurrung elders\, followed by traditional Aboriginal dancing. \nNot to mention we’ll be bringing you the infamous rock climbing wall\, food vans from various worldly cuisines – including home made Afghan Chai Khana\, giant lawn games for every age\, circus performers\, henna tattoos\, face painting\, cultural arts and crafts\, painting of a mural throughout the day\, a chill out zone and much\, much more. \nWe acknowledge that this event is being held on the land of the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their elders\, past present and emerging.
